Oh Ruth, surely you can see the irony in your post. Regardless of the rules? Mobikes, Lime Bikes and Jump Bikes are all allowed to leave their "signage" on the pavements and streets free of charge truly regardless of the rules. And they pay NOTHING to do so. They also do obstruct pedestrians and, get this, other cyclists. Fair is fair. Charge all businesses, or don't charge any. The little guys are paying inordinate fees while the big guys don't. And it is hypocrites like you who lobby for the likes of Mobike to do what they want at the peril of the people you supposedly support. And yet you seemingly don't have the ability to connect those dots. You're far smarter than that, Ruth. Sure, blather on about modal shift. Cycling might be improving air-quality and saving the environment (your words, not mine as the jury is still out on that one) but its businesses like The Coffee Traveller that are saving the community, your community - the High Streets if you will - that continually get f*cked by the council. Remember when the Santa sign had to come down a few years back? There isn't a single ounce of support for business from Hounslow council which they demonstrate year after year. |
