Not being a Sun reader, I would have had no idea of this story if Mr Stokes hadn't issued his angry statement about it, gleefully pounced on by the rest of the media. Now I have Googled it as I am no less virtuous, or less nosy, than the next person. The story, incidentally, does not reflect badly on his mother or any other family member. Is there any reason for the Sun to drag up this old tragedy? Of course not and I can see why Stokes is angry. I'm just not sure that he's dealt with it in the best way. I suppose we get the media we deserve. |
