Thanks for the update. Interestingly, i received the note below today from TFL: We have just launched a new Low Emission Bus Zone in your area. The zone runs along Chiswick High Road from the junction with Cambridge Road near Gunnersbury station, along King Street, down part of Hammersmith Broadway onto Hammersmith Road to High Street Kensington station. Only buses that meet the highest emission standards will serve on routes operating throughout this zone. These buses are the same standard that operate in the central London Ultra Low Emission zone and help reduce harmful emissions to help clean up London’s air. There are now 12 Low Emission Bus Zones across the capital with over 3,300 greener buses operating in them. This brings us a step closer to ensuring all London buses meet the Euro VI emission standard - the highest emission standard - by October 2020. For more details, visit our bus improvements page. Yours sincerely, Claire Mann Director of Bus Operations This is fabulous, but all they have done is remove buses to achieve this - and never mind about the passengers. Every journey matters supposedly - if only people could get on the buses down Chiswick High Road for a journey to start mattering would be a start. I got on a 190 this morning, it was so packed that it sailed straight passed 3 stops from Stamford Brook bus garage onwards to Hammersmith. Not to worry though - we've all got cleaner air - we just have to stand around for longer to catch a bus, taking in more air! |
