Stewart's failure to get through says far more about the people voting than it does about his own credibility. Interestingly, the foreign press is reporting that the rumours at Westminster are that the voting is being orchestrated by Johnson's camp, in that Stewart received support in the last round to get rid of Raab, to leave Johnson as the most right wing candidate - hence Stewart dropping from 37 votes in the second round to 27 votes in the third round. This is not an election process being run on normal democratic principles. |
