The loss of the 27 is annoying. Three of your local councillors (including me!!) had a meeting with TfL "bus-men" last year to discuss this. It was a dialogue with the deaf. Very frustrating. Hounslow Council actually paid TfL to install a bus stop at the western end of the no. 27 route by the Business Park. By ignoring previous agreements TfL's staff once again demonstrated that they are a law unto themselves. The consultation process was flawed. Looking at the bigger picture Mayor Khan promised not to raise TfL fares. My Party pointed out that this would reduce the funds available to invest in transport infrastructure. However what few people realised at the time was that freezing fares would also mean the lopping off bus routes that TfL considered peripheral. Much of the current congestion is said to be the "back-wash" from the closure of Hammersmith Bridge (another TfL SNAFU). Your local councillors are trying to persuade LBH Officers to introduce temporary measures that will divert through traffic on to the A4 and away from Chiswick High Road, Stilehall Gardens and Hartington/Thames Road. |
