Hi Chris Do you know that there's a bit of Chiswick over there at Christchurch University College. A huge stained glass window commemorating 400 staff and students who served in WW1. It's in the shape of Btitain and was designed by Martin Travers ( Howard Martin Otis Travers ), an eccliastical sculptor and stained glass craftsman with an astonishing output who lived and worked in the studio in Bath Road W4 from 1909-1917. There is a window, reredos, processional cross and rood by him in St Michael and All Angels Church, Bath Road. The window in Christchurch is signed HMOT and was unveiled in 1938. Astonishing really from here to there in those days. |
