| Georgie.I spent far too much of my time in the Barley Mow.I met my wife in there, and we've been married for 35 years.So at the time you are talking about, I would have been spending virtually every night in there.Like most pubs, it had it's characters. The couple that ran the pub were Phil and Enid Plant.He was a crazy drunk ex boxer, and she was psychotic.You never knew if she was going to welcome you, or bar you every time you went in.She had been known to chase customers around the bar with a carving knife. |
