It's a good thing for the people that would have suffered because of it, but a pretty disastrous thing for Osborne's future ambitions. It has shown him for what he is: an elite, privileged posh boy who had to have the ramifications of his policies made clear to him by the Lords and his party's own back benchers. There's only so much you can punish the poor. By definition they don't have much money.
