Could well be JP, but unless the OP has much more experience with computers than I have your last sentence is likely to elicit a 'duh?'  

Not difficult to sort a badly plugged in connection between your system and the socket or the plugs that go into the PC (every time my TV looks green I realise one of the cats has either half unplugged it or half unplugged the pin socket at the back of the TV) but anything IN the computer is to me the territory of a PC expert.  Plus if your PC is under guarantee, they can refuse to repair it if you have 'tampered.'
