Sue,

I don't like to accuse anyone of lying, but I've cut and pasted the below from your earlier post :

"Actually, in 2013 9 townhouses were given approval - largely by a proper consultation between developer and community."

Now, as in previous post I pointed out that the 2013 approval you are referring to wasn't a planning application, it was what is known as a prior approval application relating to the proposed conversion of the existing office floorspace into 9 flats (ref. 01218/10/PA1).

Firstly, presumably you'll now concede therefore that your post claiming that approval was given for 9 town houses is entirely incorrect ?.

Now I can totally appreciate Joe Public might get muddled up about flats rather than townhouses, so I accept that was just an error (albeit a fairly fundamental one) but what I really take issue with is the claim that there was a proper consultation between the developer and the community.

That claim implies a direct, two way direct between developer and local residents akin to a public exhibition or such like.  As your post this afternoon concedes, what you actually meant was that in the normal statutory way you as neighbours were notified by the Council of the prior approval application and invited to make comments.  You surely accept a mandatory statutory consultation undertaken by the Council is entirely and fundamentally different to a pre-planinng submission public exhibition, like what took place on the 2014 6 unit scheme ?.

I also draw your attention back to my previous post which sets out the technical clarification between the differences between a prior approval application and a planning application, which also explained why any comments that were made by Joe Public on that prior approval application are effectively irrelevant (as prior approval applications can only be considered having regard to flood risk, contaminated land and transport matters).

So it is a statement of fact that there has never been a scheme for 9 townhouses on this site, nor that the 9 unit conversion scheme that was the subject of the prior approval application involved any consultation between developer and community whatsoever.

But you said differently, and the somewhat condescending tone of your posts to others and the fact you clearly have some knowledge of the history of the site made me doubt whether your incorrect statements were merely mistakes, or deliberate mistruths.

Sorry if that offends, but it grates on me when people are so quick to call out developers for being greedy, unscrupulous and such like, and yet at the same time either don't properly check their facts first or deliberate mislead.
