Perhaps I am being over suspicious but I have recently advertised an antique bureau on the website. The only response I received was from someone who described himself as a businessman. He agreed to purchase the bureau without seeing it and offered 50 over the asking price for it to be held. He then asked for full contact details and said that he would send a cheque and that once it had cleared would arrange for it to be collected.
On one level it seems pretty reasonable but something does not ring true. The letter was a 'cut and paste' job as it referred at times to the sofa I wanted to sell.
Any views?
