My freeholder has just sent an invoice for the ground rent due on 1st August. With most of my bills (council tax, utilities, credit card payments), on receipt of the bill I set up a bank transfer to reach the supplier on the due date. My freeholder offers on-line card payment through their website, telephone payments, or cheques (but not post-dated cheques) and flatly refuse to accept bank transfers. Does anyone know if there are any laws regarding whether a freeholder can specify only the methods of payment they prefer and refuse other reasonable methods ? |
