| Great photo's Delilah. I take it the last photo is of the billywitch otherwise known as the May bug or Cockchafer. I have never seen a billywitch or heard of one until now and to be truthful I want it to stay that way, I'm a real wimp when it comes to big beetles, especially when they are flying around. Last year I dug up 4 really big maggots and they turned out to be stag beetle larvae, I was amazed when I found out how long the stag beetle lives as a larva, I was told they spend up to six years of their life underground before they emerge as beetles. |
