| A bit of nipping and tucking might have been better than such extreme austerity measures. It is always said that it is the poorer families which look after their extended families and community better than the rich who in may cases look after their money better than they do their own families. There are lots of voluntary tasks that don't demand a long term commitment like the transport ones but make the lives those who are no longer so mobile much easier. In some areas of the country there is no hospital transport let alone any volunteers to do a rota taking the elderly to the hairdresser's or out to a lunch club. |
