I thought that everybody nowadays is supposed to working and earning in order to pay tax. Otherwise you aren't part of a "hard-working family". So if everyone has to work longer where are the volunteers supposed to come from? When I was volunteering it was very difficult to get anybody to volunteer to do even the smallest of jobs and that must be over five years ago now. Even the kids asked to do the smallest of team tasks quite often replied with "What's in it for me?" It's a me me me society - there are an increasing number of I'm All Right Jacks at the top while the rest are an increasing number of hard working families struggling to stay together and housed and fed. I don't believe there are so many families that aren't hard-working. That is a myth created for the divide et imperar (divide and conquer) argument. |
