"Perhaps you could explain why the government payroll system should be expected to administer this - why can't the civil servants just set up a standing order, or give the union the right to dip into their bank accounts with a direct debit ? I assume there is no tax benefit to having the dues deducted by the employer." You must sit in front of your computer readying yourself to pounce like some superannuated tom cat as soon as I post, the epitome of the 'nasty party' in action. The deduction of union dues has been something that has happened for donkey's years in the civil service, and it is just a pathetic spiteful dig at the T.U. movement which right wing tossers think is really funny and clever, it isn't it is sad, childish and silly, the government are doing this just because they can. They couldn't even be honest and up front about it, preferring instead to accuse the T.Us of 'scaremongering', anyone would think that they were ashamed of this point scoring exercise wouldn't they? |
