Do you use the "Update Service"? My understanding is that provided you opt for this your DBS status is effectively transferable. There are some strange features of this process - one is that the certification is not done centrally but by region and the response times of different regions are quite variable. It's the sort of thing that would be unnecessary if we did not have an obsession with privacy and a knee-jerk reaction to ID cards.
