"Cf the open aspect of this major thoroughfare and the shared use policy adopted for pedestrians and traffic" There isn't a 'shared use' policy on High St. Kensington. I know a lot of people say there is, but they're talking rubbish and/or have no idea what 'shared use' is supposed to be - as I said in my other post HSK is *not* a friendly place to cycle in, it's just a conventional two way dual carriageway with pavements puffed as if it's the next best thing to the Lord Jesus Himself. Far from being a model CHR should follow the dreadful attitude of RKBC's transport engineers is what's caused the cancellation of Chiswick's cycle superhighway into central London - they refused to allow their precious scheme to be altered to be a decent place to cycle, even though Hounlsow (CCF in particular) had put a lot of work into the plan. The best we can hope for currently is that Hounslow and Hammersmith put one in as far as the start of HSK, where you go back to mixing with the buses and HGVs because that's what RBKC prefer. Seriously, those guys pushing this stuff are spivs. |
