Pete..so this from 1988, the last year of O levels...I am an English teacher not a maths teacher but I am pretty sure that the equivalent of an O level class today (one of the top two sets in a comp) could tackle this stuff. I too could tackle it, back in the dim and distant past when I had just been taught how to do these things - but I'm pretty baffled now - I have completely forgotten the methods...what about you? Oh and as it was the Bard's birthday yesterday, do you feel up to providing us with "a sophisticated analysis of a wide range of aspects of language supported by an impressive use of textual detail, and sophisticated analysis of dramatic or textual structure" of any of his plays, of your choice? That's what you need to do to get an A* in English Lit GCSE these days. I'll mark it for you if you like... ;-) I'm not sure why we, as a generation, are so convinced we are, and were, so superior to the current crop of young people. We really aren't. |
