Wheelie bins are what the collection companies want so that they can whizz along the roads with the largest of lorries and the minimum of personnel = shortest amount of time and smallest number of personnel. We are responsible for the amount of waste we throw out. Many families can easily reduce their waste to less than a single sack a week. One of the worst things to waste is food - and yet we waste an awful lot in this country. Using the food waste bin most definitely shows what you waste and gives you the chance to tweak your shopping your and eating habits to save money and save waste. http://sydney.edu.au/environment-institute/blog/think-eat-save/ http://myzerowaste.com/2015/04/10-questions-about-a-zero-waste-lifestyle/ What a joke to find out that in Hounslow despite being told that taking black sacks out of wheelie bins is a health and safety issue that is exactly what they have been doing. In other boroughs the contractors are seen wheeling a wheeliebin along the street and filling it with black sacks - or with food waste and then hitching it up onto a collection lorry. |
