I'm not confused at all. This pup may have been stolen to order by a middle man then passed on to be sold via a fake rescue organisation or similar. Typically fees charged by legitimate rescue organisations are around £200 and cover the cost of vaccs, neutering and microchipping. Stolen dogs can easily be passed on for a similar fee as the chances are they will already have been microchipped and neutered and it is easy to fake health records and even pedigrees. More details here: http://www.pupaid.org/puppy-farming/ Most potential owners do not double check. My own dog came from a legitimate, albeit I now know very poor, rescue organisation who not only provided the wrong paperwork for his microchip but assumed that I knew how to register it. It was only because I am very familiar with the microchipping process that I realised the numbers didn't match, were on the wrong company's paperwork and that I could trace the correct details by asking the organisation to input their unique ID into the database. I eventually registered it correctly after 5 weeks detective work and waiting. I am sure that there are lots of owners out there who have not even registered their details with the company and who assume that because their dog is chipped it will somehow be traced to them. |
