| What people are charged for spectacle frames is a bloody disgrace.It is nothing more than robbery.a pair of glasses consists of nothing more than about 20p worth of plastic.I am always astounded by the price of these things.I was once with my wife when she bought some new glasses.I think at the time the were £380.When the assistant told my wife the cost, I said to her"are you joking, I can buy a HD tv for that price" And the assistant said to me"but sir, they are designer frames"And I replied "so what, are you telling me that Mr Armani chisels each of these wonderful frames out of a huge block of plastic by hand"She didn't say anything else to me, she just looked at me like I had just dropped out of her dogs bum.I really do think that the price of glasses is outrageous. I suppose I can understand the cost of lenses to a degree, there is a certain amount of skill in making those, but the frames are sheer robbery, pure and simple.If I can buy a pair of reading glasses from the stalls for £1.50.What is so different between those and ones that look virtually the same but cost £300 more.I guarantee you will not be able to answer that. |
