"I think it is immoral to charge such a ridiculously high prices for such a low cost item." Andy, it's not immoral. As you and others have pointed out, there are loads of choices. I have a simple +2.5 reading prescription and I buy all my reading glasses online for between £15 and £30. I now have about 20 different pairs so I can swap them and not worry if I leave a pair on a plane or in a hotel. And all for the same price as a single pair of Armani / Paul Smith / Ralph Lauren spectacles from the optician. It's a no brainer. But if others want to spend £400 on a pair of designer frames, along with anti-skid coatings, special non-glare surface, and anti-scratch finish, and all the other extras they offer you, then good luck. It's all about choice, and some people choose that. It's not immoral. Some people are prepared to pay through the nose for a little designer brand on everything, it makes them feel better about life. You and I know better ;) |
