| Karen, If we try, really try to pay for everyone's social care in old age using the NHS budget, we will bankrupt the NHS. We have to charge people for social care after a few days or a few weeks... and that means that there will always be a need to draw a boundary between "free medical care" and "paid-for social care". I think the present NHS pilot "Whole Systems Integrated Care" project for H&F, Kensington and Chelsea and Westminster, which is a 6-weeks "Rolls Royce" treatment, will end and, if anyone analyses the expenditure, it will be too expensive to roll out across NW London. |
