We get featured in Rotten Boroughs this week! An item points out that Lend Lease have form in presenting misleading views of their developments and massaging down the amount of affordable housing they include. Two similar schemes by Lend Lease in Southwark have been covered in previous editions. The article states the PR for the scheme is being handled by a company called Quatro - a firm which promises to help clients 'negotiate the political minefield'. Quatro's managing director is Paul Dimoldenberg who is also the leader of the Labour group on Westminster Council. Private Eye questioned him on the amount of affordable housing that the Lend Lease scheme in Chiswick would have given that he has been a trenchant critic of the Tories in Westminster on their failure to make developers include a high enough proportion. He told them about 20% of the new build element of the scheme i.e. the stuff not in Empire House which would equate to 14 flats out of a total of 137. However Lend Lease have said that the affordable portion would come from just one block which the Eye says would mean there would just be 4 affordable units. |
