There is some confusion here. Recently published savings -see page 48 of http://democraticservices.hounslow.gov.uk/documents/g8473/Public%20reports%20pack%20Tuesday%2028-Oct-2014%2019.00%20Overview%20and%20Scrutiny%20Committee.pdf?T=10 Mentions an extension of the WB scheme -subject to council approval. Earlier this year I and others were asked our views. I consulted and the feed back was against. Any resident can of course use a WB but many leave out a small black bag and actively recycle. There is a huge cost here hundreds of thousands, plus a £25k conversion for each lorry. In my view it won't incite recycling but encourage it. A quick relatively noiseless collection will become a nightmare. The justification case in the letter cited is poor. An earlier report highlighted that W4 did recycle to a high standard unlike other parts of the borough. It's mandatory too. John Sent from my iPad |
