Michael - those aren't coffins, but plastic grave liners - the coffin fits inside them. They're used for burials in places where ground conditions are damp, and many tens of thousands are used each year in this country and in the USA. Without them, coffins collapse after a while, and the ground subsides, leading to the headstone etc falling over. In this clip, they're stored in a field, as there's no need to keep them in a more expensive warehouse. |
