Just been checking and wondering: 'The virus has been found in African monkeys, chimps and nonhuman primates, as well as African fruit bats. The disease probably jumped to humans through butchering or eating infected animals. Tourists in African caves and underground mine workers have contracted the similar Marburg virus, possibly through contact with feces or urine from infected bats, according to the Mayo Clinic. A weaker strain of Ebola virus has been found in pigs and monkeys in the Philippines.' |
