It is indeed as it is cooked 'whole' then gutted (sorry squeamish ones). Most is cane rate but the 'smokies' (that's what my Ghanaian friend called it -he wouldn't eat it) can include blow-torch 'cooked' monkey, squirrel and bat. There is a significant 'under the counter' trade in many areas of London which have a sizeable (west) African community. |
