Actually if you look at the latest report on Parking from Hounslow amazingly the Council seem to make a loss from their car park - this was precisely £1 in 2013 which suggests this is accounting driven rather than a true reflection of the revenue gained. http://www.hounslow.gov.uk/parking_traffic_enforcement_report_2013.pdf This does not include revenue from PCNs in the Bath Road car park of which there were 1500 during the year. Even assuming that the car parks were run efficiently total revenue is still less than £2mn per annum from all the car parks in the borough put together. How much they would lose by closing the car park is impossible to say on the basis of the report but the way the accounts are presented they can claim there will be zero financial impact if it were to close. |
