Dear Robert, Thank you for your explanation of the shenanigans of Philip Morris. Another of the 127 cases is Lone Pine vs Canada. Lone Pine, an oil exploration company operating in Canada, but incorporated in Delaware to minimize tax, challenged the government of Quebec's ban on fracking. Basically Lone Pine "borrowed" US nationality to bring a claim against its own government at an arbitration tribunal! The "neo-liberal" agenda of (mainly US) multinational corporations is breathtaking in its ambition to stitch up world trade for its own benefit. |
