Hmmmm. I was not trying to recommend OR contradict, just put a bit of extra evidence into the mix. The Sussex Arms is in a residential area of Twickenham and not at all easy to get to. I have no hesitation in outing it's location here because people in Chiswick who won't go to a good beer pub in Goldhawk Road are not going to trek to Twickenham. Maybe their food is OK but I don't see many people eating when I go there. The thing is that a pub with great beer can do well in less than prime area. Maybe it's the local community, the Cross Keys (that one's in Chiswick) is busy every time I go there but it's food is Fullers standard. Actually as pubs chase the restaurant trade they will find the same problems as the restaurant trade - and looking at CHR that means endless change. |
