I worked for 40 years, being out of work for only 2 weeks of that 40 years in 1991 when I was made redundant. For 5 months of that time, I was doing 3 jobs working 18 hours a day,and went for 19 weeks without having a day off I recently had to reluctantly take ill health retirement due to my need for a kidney transplant.I also have osteo arthritis in both knees, which need replacement knee joints in both knees.I was assessed for benefits by Atos, who told me I did no qualify for any benefits despite paying over £300000 in tax over my workng life.I appealed Atos decision, and since then, they have made my life hell.I finally managed to get job seekers allowance, but they still keep sending me all over London for spurious medicals.Yet if I had just arrived at Victoria on the bus from Warsaw, I'd be eligible for much more.It doesn't make sense.Does it ? |
