I think the Overground service to Brentford would use the existing freight line branching off between Brentford and Kew Bridge station, going north of Chiswick Business Park, the north most level crossing on Bollo Lane then joining up with the existing Overground line before South Acton. I don't know what would be involved for the Overground to use this existing line but it is likely to be a lot cheaper than building a brand new station. However if the Overground was extended using the existing freight line, then there would be 2 level crossings on Bollo lane about 50m apart and there could be 16 trains per hour going over both of them so Bollo lane could be virtually unusable for road traffic. That could mean expensive bridges or tunnels, or simply closing Bollo Lane to vehicle traffic. There would be the same issue at the level crossing on Churchfield Road by Acton Central station. |
