Gosh! Thank you for the warning.. I always knew the dangers of leaving a magnifying glass near a window but I have never thought about crystal vases, decanters etc.. Found this.. 25 Feb 2014.. In the last five years shaving mirrors and glass objects refracting light were responsible for 33 fires in London, according to London Fire Brigade. Crews said during the summer months they caused around one fire a month and were more common fire risks than people expect. Mick Boyle, fire investigation officer at London Fire Brigade, said: "You can't predict the future, but you can prevent this type of fire by keeping glass ornaments, mirrors, and bottles away from sunny window sills.” |
