There was a big double page article in the Mirror about all the animals who died in WW1 and the point was made without the poor old horses we couldn't have won, let alone the dogs and pigeons. My paternal Grandfather was in the Royal Veterinary Corps. and he told my Dad that rows of horses just keeled over like dominoes - frozen to death. All credit to our animals, where would we have been in recent times without the sniffer dogs? |
