We all learn to live with the background noise from Heathrow, but with it closed at present you really do notice how lovely it is without the constant aircraft traffic. Its the sort of social experiment they would never try due to "costs" but having enjoyed the tranquility of West London I think a campaign not nust to stop the third runway but to close and relocate the whole airport to the thames estuary should be started.

I bet many people who didn't think heathrow noise really affected them now think differently - would get my vote at next mayoral election if a candidate would take the idea seriously.

I know the economic arguments etc but a transfer of the airport location would just move the jobs over time to the new location and if we're smart as a society the heathrow land could be put to really community benefit - not intensive housing !!    Perhaps pleasant housing area for the local services community, police, teachers, NHS etc. Almost like tied housing concept to ensure houses remain available for targeted professions.

Just a muse on a quiet sunny saturday in West London !
