| I can see the appeal from ITV and Samsung's point of view. Quite clever really advertising a folding-screen phone by splitting the broadcast image. However from the viewers' side of the equation - what an absolutely dreadful thing to do. Stand by for even worse to come as the TV/streaming outfits scramble over the last crumbs of ad revenue. I share an Amazon Prime sub. with my daughter. During the commercial breaks (avoidable if you pay more) Amazon now put a little box on the screen which is linked to your Amazon account and offers the chance to order whatever product is being advertised direct from your armchair. All it takes is one click and it's yours - or in my careless case, the account holder's. I had to call my daughter and tell her that unbeknown to her, she had just purchased a multi-pack of Fairy Liquid - or whatever it was - and she now needed to log in to her Amazon account to cancel it. It is quite possible to not notice that you have even done this. Insidious or what? |
