I'm told the thieves on foot are generally know to the shops, their security people and the police so identification is not really an issue. In the recent update from the police it was revealed that CCTV played a part in letting them know a prolific offender was back in town, which I would assume was down to a sharp eyed individual at the CCTV control centre. To the best of my knowledge, facial recognition technology has never been used on Chiswick High Road.
Thieves using a car do have to be mindful of CCTV. Hopefully all the ANPR cameras around will immediately flat a stolen, fake or missing plate. |
