You would have thought that recent news stories would make anyone careful about publishing potentially libellous comments on public forums. Those rejoicing in the Glebe Conservation Area would do well to re-assess what controls they have actually “won” in exchange for ransoming the permitted development rights of 500+ homes on an  estate that the council has publicly acknowledged, in writing, is "not under threat". The scheme's advocates have been quick to whitewash and dismiss (never mind denigrate) the detailed objections of many residents as "misinformation" without being at all specific. Those sincere and unfunded (contrary to the above  aspersions) objectors, should take heart from at least having forced the council into stipulating exemptions for full width loft extensions (not exempted in the 2021 proposal) and Article 4 controls - i.e all those restrictions on front walls, front doors, UPVc windows etc that the proponents now believe (delusionally) they have won. No doubt there will be future lobbying to establish more controls over our neighbourhood once the Conservation Area is established. Meanwhile look to your trees before you need to give the council 6 weeks notice (free!) prior to pruning them. Will LBH Planning thank you for the income your new application fees will provide to subsidise recent budgetary cuts?
