After years of community division stoked by sinister anonymous junk mailings funded by a local builder and full of scandalous misinformation, Conservation Area status has been granted to the Glebe Estate. This is wonderful news for residents of the Glebe and Chiswick as a whole, whose heritage is part of our beating heart - the reason people flock to live and play here.
Now Chiswick's history can be told in its fullest possible sense and the lives of ordinary working people of the past can rejoin those of the aristocrats of Chiswick House and aesthetes of Bedford Park to show how Chiswick really became the place it is today.
