It is important to note that the march was almost entirely without incident (I think that only one person was arrested for openly supporting Hamas).  The organisers did their job correctly, the march and the route was completely legal.

One thing which has not been highlighted is that the Commonwealth Jewish Council is on The Strand.  If Mr Falter had attended a meeting or a religious service there he would have exited almost exactly where he was stopped by police for being "Openly Jewish". So anyone who was also a the CJC and left via their front door at a similar time presumably would also be "Openly Jewish".

The location of the CJC should have formed part of the briefing all police officers escorting the march would have received beforehand.  My suspicion is that the police officers on the ground were not told of that.

Then there is the suggestion from the Met that people who stand beside a march filming it are in some way "provocateurs".  This is obviously nonsense but does provide a very disturbing incite into the Met thinking.  I am guessing that they think people who film the police are by definition dangerous criminals.

Finally, there is the suggestion that Mr Falter in wanting to cross the road was in danger of inciting a breach of the peace.  Again this is nonsense for a couple of reasons, the evidence is that the march was entirely peaceful, there is no evidence that an openly Jewish person crossing the road would have changed that, then there is the issue that crossing the road during a march is a lawful activity.  It feels as though the Met has decided that the old Not the Nine O'Clock News sketch about the police (the one were a PC had written up someone for various crimes including having a very loud wife and wearing a loud shirt in a built up area) rather than being a comedy sketch was in fact a how-to manual.
