Yesterday I was cycling back from Surrey (Richmond, Walton on Thames etc) and the traffic was awful. As far as I can see there are several disrupting things happening at the same time. 1. Fire or fires near Gunnersbury https://www.mylondon.news/news/live-district-line-updates-london-27003364 https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/1774743/district-line-train-disruption-fire-Gunnersbury-Turnham-Green 2. Works on Kew Bridge Road, partly as a result of creation of a cycle lane there, and a simultaneous set of works by Cadent, presumably to sort out gas mains. The charitable view would be that these have been deliberately arranged to happen at the same time. 3. TfL replacing the traffic lights on the Ealing Rd/A4 junction. For reasons only known by them (and my most useful contact is on holiday) they have arranged it so that northbound and southbound traffic can't move at the same time. This has led to lots of delay on Ealing Road and this has spread to nearby roads like Whitestile and Layton. There is also a report this has spread to Windmill, though someone else told me this was due to construction on that road (I'll be taking a look this evening) 4. Yesterday CHR/A205 next to Kew Bridge has been dug up by SSE for unknown reasons due to electricity distribution. As I crossed from Thames Road last afternoon heading for Brentford I notice that everybody on foot and bicycle were crossing the junction on a red, which is normally a very perilous activity. Not yesterday, because everybody heading south were detained by red lights by the SSE excavation. I didn't think to check whether this also disrupted northern traffic but I guess it must have. Again, I'll have a look to see how it has developed by this evening.
