Of course they are valid points - but the system is predisposed towards development, and councils are often like some sort of King Canute, trying to keep over-development at bay - mostly in local cases not very successfully. And let's not forget that the government is pushing for more relaxation of planning regulations. But then some of the biggest donors to Tory party coffers are the big building companies. How long has the government been banging on about getting rid of the farce that is leasehold properties? Now there's gift that goes on giving for developers and property companies.
