| Yes, it apparently made access and egress difficult for the traders in the street. I suppose they may have got more take-up for the other legal methods of getting rid of this stuff eg people signing for the garden waste collections (it seems when they have them there are bags as well as wheelies in both LBE and LBH which makes it easier for those who use it little/don't have much space). Or booking bulky waste collections. Maybe some people have even taken advantage of the reduced price composters including hotbins food waste digesters, wormeries, as well as water butts etc that most Councils now provide so they don't have to take their garden waste away. However many of us prefer to just take it somewhere else once or twice a year to be composted when we need to cut something large back. Communal composting anyone? Or found another less busy Reuse & Recycling Centre who'd accept their waste. Many though will have spent the lockdown tidying their gardens and homes and will probably have been as soon as they could while in "get rid" mode despite the queues. I haven't always found it terribly busy at Stirling Road but learnt never to take garden waste on a Monday or at the weekend because it used to be. It was irritating when they were changing skips or had no space. I used to go en route to doing the shopping or school run and needed to empty the car so not being able to get in would have been a complete disaster! Life's less stressful without that. |
