Clearly we are not going to stop building tall buildings. Plans for them have accelerated since Grenfell and you have to presume that the lessons learned will be incorporated into building regulations. If cladding remains a problem on some older buildings then more have to be built to replace lost housing stock.
It does seem inevitable that Power Road will be transformed from a low rise light industrial area to a high rise estate with residential units above commercial premises. The issue here is transport. Gunnersbury is operating above safe capacity and TfL just scrapped a bus route serving the area. I don't know if inadequate transport infrastructure is sufficient ground to prevent a development but, if it isn't, it probably should be. |
