Good news, the Government's accepted that PFI style fudges aimed at leveraging in private sector cash for major infrastructure projects are unable to provide timely, efficient delivery: http://www.tfl.gov.uk/corporate/media/newscentre/27333.aspx (that's not what it says, of course, but it's the underlying story). So, if the best solution for trains is 100% public funding, how about applying that to, oo, housing, and so on? Even I could get to like these new tax-and-spend Tories, at this rate, although if anyone can find out where the £1bn is actually coming from when we're allegedly up to our ears in debt I'm sure we'd all like to know. I bet we find out in the Budget speech, and it'll probably be 'the poor'. |
