That also crossed my mind, Richard. The park itself was first opened to the public in 1888 and had a great manor house - Ravenscourt House - which was demolished after being bombed in the Second World War. So it would have fitted the bill as a popular tram spot between Chiswick and Shepherd's Bush. And as for those lions...Black Lion Lane is obviously nearby. |
