I found a lone duckling in Weston Rd, W4 today - it was in a recycling bag in a front garden in grave peril from the many cats/dogs in the area. Although I know one shouldn't handle wild chicks, I couldn't leave it to it's own devices and brought it home. My folks hatch chicks in an incubator (unfortunately 800 miles away in South of France) so I know they self feed and really only need to be kept warm, fed and watered until they develop their waterproof feathers, but wondered if anyone had a more suitable home for it than mine....I think it is only 2 weeks old max as all fluff still, and I go away on 10/08 (assuming I can keep it alive til then..) and I don't think it will be ready to go Chiswick House lake or Business Park pond by then.... Any ideas? Thanks in advance Sarah |
