| True Janice and very few 'local' shops. Having lived and worked in the the USA (New Hampshire, Arizona and Florida) you don't 'pop round the corner' to the shops you drive to the nearest mall. In some areas people walking are treated with suspicion. "Why aren't they driving". It's a weird society with the status of ever bigger cars with bigger engines** seemingly paramount. **The Kia Sportage, the most popular SUV, is sold in Europe and theUK with a 1598cc engine, In the States it has a 2.5 litre engine and achieves around 30% less mpg (even allowing for the smaller US gallon). |
